Dedicating the Denison Track & Field Record Boards in honor of Coach Phil Torrens

Phil Torrens served for 45 years as a coach and mentor to countless Big Red cross country and track & field athletes. He was still actively coaching at Denison when he passed away in January 2023 at the age of 76.

To recognize the enormous impact Coach Torrens had on so many Denisonians over the years, we are naming the varsity track & field record boards in his honor. The goal is to raise $10,000 to replace the current boards, cover the cost of future updates, and support the cross country and track & field programs.

The unveiling and dedication of the new Phil Torrens Record Boards are scheduled for the Bob Shannon Invitational meet taking place on February 3, 2024, in Granville.
